ST. LOUIS – We’ve hit the rare and exciting stretch of the calendar when all four of St. Louis’ professional sports teams are in action and playing games that matter.
This weekend even brings a unique sports spectacle: Three of St. Louis’ teams will be playing in Downtown St. Louis on the same day.
The St. Louis Cardinals (MLB), St. Louis Battlehawks (UFL) and St. Louis CITY SC (MLS) are all scheduled to play within a few hours of each other Sunday, marking a big day for die-hard St. Louis sports fans.
With so much action packed into the weekend, some fans might try to stadium-hop and catch a little bit of each game live. For others, it could be an opportune time to move forth with a marriage proposal. In fact, during the Battlehawks’ home opener last weekend, one couple got engaged during a game break on the jumbotron.
This had FOX 2 wondering: Are fans allowed to propose at St. Louis’ big four sports venues? And if so, at what cost?
We checked in with team and stadium officials, and here is what we found out…
Dome At America’s Center
Home venue of the St. Louis Battlehawks
A Battlehawks spokesperson tells FOX 2 that the team welcomes in-game marriage proposals. There is not a specific registration process, but proposals are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Team officials will work to accommodate requests, and costs may vary. Fans who are interested are encouraged to contact the Battlehawks online or via phone at 314-377-7916.
Busch Stadium
Home venue of the St. Louis Cardinals
A Cardinals spokesperson tells FOX 2 that the team does not offer in-game marriage proposals. However, on rare occasions, proposals could happen spontaneously.
“If you get lucky with a fan cam, you’re on!,” says the spokesperson. That said, the team does not coordinate those opportunities in advance.
Busch Stadium also offers engagement tours on non-gamedays year-round for individuals to pop the question to their special someone. Fees vary from $300 to $700 and opportunities should be coordinated with the Cardinals as much in advance as possible. For more information, click here.
Energizer Park
Home venue of St. Louis CITY SC
A CITY SC spokesperson tells FOX 2 that while fans are welcome to propose at home matches, the team generally doesn’t coordinate such moments on the jumbotron, so it would have to be done organically without official support from the team.
The team sent the following statement to FOX 2, “We love that fans want to celebrate their special moments at Energizer Park! While proposals are always welcome in our stadium, please note that the primary focus during matchdays is the game and related matchday experiences. As such, we are unable to support those moments if they happen during matches, especially given we don’t have breaks in soccer matches.”
That said, Energizer Park will host and help with arranging proposals on non-matchdays through its special events staff. Costs may vary. Anyone interested in arranging such a proposal should contact St. Louis CITY SC’s events team at events@stlcitysc.com.
Enterprise Center
Home of the St. Louis Blues
A Blues spokesperson tells FOX 2 that the team does not offer in-game marriage proposals. The Blues allow for birthday and anniversary messages on rotating sideboard signs during games, but proposals are not allowed.
The Blues mentioned that their partners at Stifel Theatre could help with coordinating proposals, weddings and receptions.
