ST. LOUIS – Single-game tickets for the Stanley Cup Playoffs are on sale as the St. Louis Blues earned a postseason berth Tuesday night. Fans in downtown St. Louis are excited to see The Note advance beyond the regular season for the 46th time in the club’s 57-year history.
The Blues will face the Winnipeg Jets in the first round. At the Enterprise Center Wednesday afternoon, fans were grabbing Blues gear in the team store. The new playoff gear is available only through online pre-orders, but banners are available for purchase. Fans are encouraged to post pictures of their Blues gear on social media using the hashtag #WeAllBleedBlue to have a chance to win prizes.
Matt and Mary Morrell, on their way to Busch Stadium for an afternoon ballgame with their toddler son, Danny, said they’ll have to get some near Blues gear for their boy.
“He had a little sweater, but he outgrew it,” Matt said. “We’re going to get him some.”
Young Ben Kinser, who attended his first Blues game Tuesday, is hooked.
“It was awesome! It’s my second favorite sport right now,” he said.
Joe Mayfield, a longtime Blues and Cardinals fan, said the Jets will be a tough team to beat, but he’s keeping the faith
“I think they’re capable of doing it,” he said.
Sylvia Schultz, another longtime fan, believes the young players are hungry for playoff glory.
“We don’t know how far we’re going to go, but we’re praying for it,” she said.
An enthusiastic Bethany Morris says it’s important to be prepared and come out to support the Blues.
Steve Bannes, wearing a Blues pin on his jacket lapel and sporting a Blues-themed bowtie, came to the team store to buy merchandise not for himself, but a new generation of fan.
“I am for my baby granddaughter,” he said. “I just had to. I wore Blues apparel and I’m just celebrating.”
