ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals have announced significant changes to their organization, with John Mozeliak set to step down as President of Baseball Operations after the 2025 season. Chaim Bloom has been named as his successor, with plans to focus on revamping the Cardinals’ minor league system in the coming year before taking over the top position in 2026.
Chairman and CEO Bill Dewitt Jr. revealed plans for a substantial reset of the team’s player development system, including significant investments in staffing and infrastructure. A new facility at their Jupiter complex is part of this initiative.
Looking to the future, the organization is exploring new ways for fans to access game broadcasts through apps and is optimistic about the potential legalization of sports betting. Despite the upcoming changes, the Cardinals leadership remains positive, with Dewitt Jr. stating, “If I were a fan, I’d be excited for the future. Change can be good.”
The Cardinals missed the playoffs for a second straight season after three consecutive wild-card defeats following an NL Championship Series berth in 2019. They finished 83-79, including 39-42 on the road while ending the season in San Francisco for the first time since 1960.
