Make it two straight wins for the Cardinals over the Tampa Bay Rays after Wednesday’s night’s 5-2 victory. New Cardinals pitcher Erick Fedde earned his first win with his new team. Fedde pitched five innings, allowing just one run while striking out six. The Cardinals bullpen took it from there, allowing just one run in four innings of relief. Ryan Helsley pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick u his 36th save of the season.
The Cardinals offense was led by Nolan Arenado and Alec Burleson. Both has doubles driving in two runs. Willson Contreras had the other run scoring hit, an RBI single in the first inning.
The Redbirds go for the series sweep of the Rays on Thursday night with Kyle Gibson getting the start. First pitch is at 6:15 PM.
