The young Cardinals Catcher had a historic week.
In the offseason the Cardinals cleared the pathway to everyday at bats for their young catching tandem by moving long time catcher Willson Contreras to 1B and their investment is paying early dividends. Herrera was 4-13 with all 4 of his hits leaving the yard and driving in 9 runs. Ivan was also the first Catcher in Cardinals history to hit 3 Home Runs in on game.
That performance alone made a rather lack luster week a memorable one. The Cardinals offense continues to produce hits at a high rate, unfortunately, the pitching staff hasn’t been able to prop up the rolling offensive output past the opening weekend.
Other notable performances this past week:
Lars Nootbaar: 8-22 (.363) 1 HR 2 RBI 1 2B 4 BB
Victor Scott II: 6-18 (.333) 1 HR 5 RBI 1 2B 3 BB 2 SB
Jordan Walker 5-17 (.294) 1 HR 2 RBI 1 BB 1 SB
Nolan Arenado 6-20 (.300) 2 2B 3 RBI 4 BB
Alec Burleson 6-14 (.428) 1 2B 3 RBI 1 BB
