A four run 7th inning broke open a tie game and helped the Royals beat the Cardinals 8-3 in Kansas City on Saturday night. The Royals broke up a 2-2 tie in the 7th inning when Maikel Garcia singled in a run. Bobby Witt Jr. followed that hit with an RBI triple. Next batter, Salvador Perez hit a two run homer off Cardinals pitcher John King to give KC a 6-2 lead. Paul Goldschmidt had given the Cardinals an early lead with a two run homer in the second inning, his 18th home run of the season.
The Cardinals and Royals split the quick two game series. Both teams have a rare off day on Sunday.
