Let’s look at some pictures!
This is going to be a short one, my friends, but I think a fun post, nonetheless. Viva El Birdos has recently joined Bluesky. While I was on there trying (and failing) to figure out how to automate posting links to our articles, I saw a post I liked and I thought you all might too:
Ok I want to see your favorite sports photo of all time. Let’s do this.

This of course got me thinking about this in a St. Louis Cardinals-specific context. Some folks already beat me to some options:
I love this one so much — there is something there captured in the expression of Albert Pujols that I do not think I can quite explain, but I feel intrinsically. Something that makes him seem even more heroic than he usually does, something that adds to his mythos, something that implies to me that he decided before the at-bat that he was going to hit a monster home run and he did just that, but now he is worried the display maybe gave away his true identity of being someone far greater than the average human. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I could probably write two-thousand analyzing this one.

This one just makes me happy. St. Louis’s son, happily meeting his teammates at home plate after an improbable World Series comeback, walkoff win. What a moment.
The thread is full of a lot of cool sports photos. Here are some others I found in the archives…
Okay this one last one isn’t baseball, but while I am looking through old photos and feeling nostalgic, I thought I would sneak this one in here:
I could keep going, but I want to see some photos from you all in the comments. What are some of your favorite St. Louis Cardinals photos? Or even just your favorite sports photos? Let’s see them!
Happy Sunday!
