We put an exclamation mark to a winning year at Best Bets with a couple final picks for the championship game.

Well here we are. The last week of the college football season and Best Bets is guaranteed to be in the black. It wasn’t all smooth sailing this year but we’ve managed to persevere and Best Bets now sits at 34-25-1 (54-54-3 on all picks) on the season after a 2-2 week during the playoff semifinals. Since we’ve only got one game left, we’ve just got two picks this week, which means if you followed our Best Bets advice all season for best bets, at worst you’d be up nine units and will finish no worse than up seven units this season. Not too bad, if I do say so myself. So for the final time until August, let’s get to it!
Best Bets
College Football Playoff National Championship Presented by AT&T:
Ohio State (-8.5) vs. Notre Dame
While their last game against Texas wasn’t as easy as the two touchdown final score might indicate, Ohio State has been the dominant force of the entire playoffs. Notre Dame has won 13 in a row and is playing great, but Ohio State is on a different level in terms of talent and current level of execution. Congratulations to the Irish on an amazing run, but they are going to run into a buzz saw with which their offense won’t be able to keep pace. I think the Buckeyes win by at least two scores and this one might be a yawner by the end of the third quarter.
Ohio State vs. Notre Dame (U46.5)
Both defenses are playing really really well and while I think Ohio State will win this game going away, they’ll do so by perhaps scoring 30 and limiting Notre Dame to two scores or less. I think 46.5 points is a tad too high so I’ll take the under and hope the Ohio State offense isn’t too explosive in route to a rout.
