The Morning Commute for Tuesday, January 7
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Basketball:
It’s a big week upcoming for Mizzou Hoops.
After starting 0-1 in SEC play with an expected loss at No. 2 Auburn, Missouri returns home to Mizzou Arena to host LSU (8:00 p.m. CST tonight on SEC Network) looking to keep their undefeated home record intact.
.@MizzouHoops is back in Mizzou Arena for its SEC home opener tomorrow! Don’t miss out on 2️⃣ big home games this week

LSU is coming off an 80-72 loss to Vanderbilt to open up conference play as the only SEC home team to lose on Saturday.
Mentioned in Sam Snelling’s latest Study Hall, it’s a game where both teams need a win.
“LSU at home on Tuesday in a game you really need to win. So does LSU.”
Though despite the loss at Auburn, Mizzou still comes in at No. 33 in Andy Katz’s Power 37 rankings.
33. “Missouri (Prev. 29, 11-3): No shame in opening the SEC at Auburn. LSU and Vanderbilt are up next in Columbia.
The Tigers come in at No. 41 in Jon Rothstein’s Top 45 rankings.
“41. Missouri
The Skinny: Tamar Bates and Mark Mitchell were only a combined 5 for 18 from the field against Auburn.
Bates and Mitchell will simply have to be better, and if Mizzou is an NCAA Tournament team this season, 2-0 this week feels like a must.
Just beat LSU and Vandy next week.

“The thing is this: It would be one thing if Mizzou was adding a high-end safety to its existing corps, which already includes a returning Daylan Carnell and, from what we’re aware, Dreyden Norwood, Toriano Pride, Marvin Burks, etc.”
Mizzou keeps adding to their secondary position with the addition of Jalen Catalon.
“Best Bets now sits at 32-23-1 (52-52-3 overall) and we are focused on finishing in the black here heading down the stretch. It’s playoff semifinal time and since there are only two games to pick, we’ll pick two plays for each game for our Best Bets. Let’s do this!”
The College Football season is coming to a close as Nathan Hurst previews the CFP Semifinals from a betting angle.
What’s a word count?! I certainly don’t know, haha. Here’s my very in-depth and quote-filled recap for @RockMNation from @MizzouGym’s performance at Beauty & The Beast.
This was a fun one. So much to discuss!! https://t.co/Zw7wAYI0S0

“While pretty soon the goal will be to put the best six in the lineup, early on they’re taking the first couple weeks to test out people who are ready. “I thought we had some really good routines,” Shannon said.”
Gymnastics season is underway, and this team is primed for a great season!
“That’s a lot of new faces, but a lot of exciting ones too. Ahmad Hardy was one of the best running backs in the country last year, and he’s only a sophomore. Kevin Coleman is one of the best slot receivers in the country. Beau Pribula was one of the more coveted QBs in the portal. The staff doesn’t appear to be comfortable taking a step back next year. They’ve tasted what it’s like to be in the CFP conversation, and they want more.”
