The Morning Commute for Thursday, April 24
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Hall of Famers
The Mizzou Athletics’ 2025 Hall of Fame Class continued their announcements on Wednesday. Joining Sophie Cunningham and Brock Olivo is former Mizzou Volleyball star Alyssa Munlyn.
Munlyn spent four years with the Tigers from 2015-2018 and became Mizzou’s first four-time All-American. Now? She’s officially a Mizzou Hall of Famer.
She’s one of the most dominant @MizzouVB players in team history.
She was the program’s first four-time All-American.
And now, Alyssa Munlyn is a Mizzou Athletics Hall of Famer! #MIZHOF

Bob Brendel was also announced as a member of the Mizzou Athletics Hall of Fame — presented by Laird Veatch.
For two decades, he helped tell the stories of Mizzou teams, coaches and student-athletes as the head of Sports Information – and he continues to contribute as our department historian.
Now, Bob Brendel is a Mizzou Athletics Hall of Famer.

In the future, perhaps Shannon Welker will be inducted into the Mizzou Hall of Fame as he’s building a special program in Columbia.

Three straight years that a transfer has earned All-American honors? That’s one heck of a recruiting pitch.
MIZZOU kills it in the portal and consistently brings in the best. Can’t wait to see who is next!!! https://t.co/FHSCH9BaD5

Yesterday at Rock M and Rock M+
“Not only was the finish the best in program history, it also marked the highest team finish for any Tiger sport (men or women) since 2007, when the wrestling team placed third.”
Maybe they didn’t win it all, but ESPN sure should have provided Mizzou some more coverage during the championship.
“The Tigers ostensibly have their quarterback for the 2026 recruiting class. While Sidwar most likely won’t see the field for Mizzou for at least a couple years, quarterback depth and stability is vital to building toward long-term program success.”
Recruiting quarterbacks in every class is a necessity. Eli Drinkwitz and the staff have certainly found the Pennsylvania pipeline.
