The Morning Commute for Tuesday, January 14
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about SEC and Mizzou Hoops.
SEC Basketball continues to get better and better. A total of nine teams in the league are ranked in the latest version of the AP Top 25 that was released on Monday.
POLL ALERT: Auburn rises to No. 1 in men’s AP Top 25 after Tennessee loses; Georgia cracks rankings for first time since 2011.

That includes Mizzou’s next opponent later tonight, Florida (15-1) — who comes in at No. 5 in the country. The Gators are coming off a statement week with a 30-point win over Tennessee and a convincing road victory over Arkansas.
It will be a tall task tonight in Gainesville, for sure. Though Mizzou is making moves as well. The Tigers have received votes in the latest rankings, nine spots out of the Top 25 at No. 34.
Elsewhere, Mizzou lands at No. 32 in Andy Katz’s Power 37:
“The Tigers aren’t going anywhere in the SEC. This is an NCAA Tournament team after going winless in the SEC last season.”
And in Jon Rothstein’s Top 45 — The Tigers come in at 38.
“The Skinny: Anthony Robinson is having a breakout season.”
Enjoy some highlights from the win over Vanderbilt.

“I won’t spoil who, but two of Mizzou’s current players are on track to have better individual seasons than any single Mizzou Tiger since Miya started tracking individual performances back in 2012.”
Dennis Gates has a talented roster to work with in this gauntlet of the SEC.
“Missouri at times look like they can be better than they are. Consistency is key to being great. Hopefully they can put together their best 40 minutes of the season in Gainesville tomorrow.”
They will need their best 40 minutes if they want to pull off the upset at Florida.
“Overall, Drinkwitz’s first five seasons at the helm of the program have been some of the most successful in program history.”
Mizzou has been bowl eligible in their first five seasons under Drinkwitz, and now back-to-back 10-win seasons. That’s pretty good!
Check out my latest at @RockMNation— I’m recapping #Mizzou Gym’s performance in Denver, where vault & beam issues derail a great FX rotation, complete with TSwift lyrics and Schitt’s Creek gifs.https://t.co/g1fvoSukF5

“This team is good and has the potential to be great. We just haven’t seen it yet; they’re inconsistent and they’re still working through some kinks. They’ll get there. There aren’t a lot of massive mistakes; they’re fixable.”
Gymnastics update from Karen after Mizzou’s Denver quad performance. This team hasn’t reached their full potential, but Karen believes they will.
