The Morning Commute for Tuesday, February 11
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou sports in the rankings.
After their first two-game losing streak of the season, Mizzou Hoops fell in the AP Top 25 rankings, as expected.
The Tigers come in at No. 21 falling six spots in the polls.

That’s a little extreme if you ask me for a team that lost to Tennessee and Texas A&M by only a combined seven points, but whatever.
The Tigers will look to stay in the Top 25 this week with Oklahoma coming to Columbia on Wednesday night — and then a road game at Georgia on Saturday afternoon.
Mizzou Softball had the better week, going 4-1 at the NFCA Division 1 Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida with ranked wins over Northwestern and Duke. Though, the Tigers stay at No. 15 in the latest Softball America rankings.
After a chaotic opening week, our latest Top 25 is here.

And coming off their victory over Illinois in the Braggin’ Rights meet, Mizzou Gymnastics remains in the Road to Nationals Top 10 for the third week in a row — coming in at No. 9. Karen’s recap will be out early this morning.

The “Zou to the Lou” Quad awaits the Tigers on Friday night against Alabama, Illinois, and Iowa. Let’s hope the weather cooperates so that our Gym writer may make it there this time.

“But let’s not lose sight of the fact that yet another Mizzou Tiger is now a Super Bowl champion!”
It wasn’t Nick Bolton and the Chiefs’ turn this time around, but Charles Harris and the Eagles get it done. M-I-Z!
“The remaining schedule is unbalanced. Missouri does have an advantage in that they only see one of the top-level teams in Alabama, and that’s a home game. So, a strong finish lines up, but you have to go win these games.”
Mizzou is favored to go 6-2 down the stretch. Let’s see if they can get there.
Today’s edition of the Rock M #Mizzou Baseball roster preview covers the team’s biggest question mark: the bullpen.@RockMNation @rorywhetstone7https://t.co/mQXY5Hcxtp

“Lack of bullpen depth has been a killer in the past for Mizzou and was part of what led to Steve Bieser’s firing after 2023. The talent brought in by Kerrick Jackson the last two seasons looks poised to fix that problem in the future – the question is how soon that future comes.”
There’s lots of questions surrounding the Mizzou bullpen, but the young talent is there.

“Missouri won’t be in legitimate trouble until they lose a game outside of Quad 1 — making Wednesday night vs Oklahoma a near must-win game.”
Beat OU.
Despite the loss to Texas A&M, Cal provided plenty of good pics, as usual.
