The Morning Commute for Tuesday, April 22
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Sophie Cunningham!
Sophie Cunningham, the leading scorer in Missouri women’s basketball history, is now a member of the 2025 Mizzou Athletics Hall of Fame, the program announced on Monday.
Cunningham was awarded the honor in her first year of eligibility as the announcement was presented by Laird Veatch and Kellie Harper.
We surprised each of our new 2025 Hall of Famers and captured some special moments to share.
First up, the @MizzouWBB local legend, @sophaller in her first year of HOF eligibility!

After making the NCAA Tournament in all of her four seasons at Mizzou, Cunningham will enter her seventh season in the WNBA, but her first year with the Indiana Fever alongside superstar Caitlin Clark.
I think I cried a little truly honored and full of gratitude and love for @Mizzou ! We had a hell of a team and A TIME WAS HAD during those years but nothing beats the memories and relationships those four years gave. We had COMO poppin and all I can do now is smile! https://t.co/2053qdVHF6

Yesterday at Rock M and Rock M+
“Welker has set a high bar for himself, but his teams have improved throughout his time in Columbia. There’s not too far to go upward until Mizzou is hoisting the trophy.”
It was a heck of a run for this Mizzou Gymnastics team, and the future is bright for this program with Shannon Walker leading the way.
Great pics all week from Cal on the softball diamond.
“This is a pretty minimal loss as it was expected Wilson would not be a part of the roster for next year regardless, and Mizzou has already reloaded at the point guard position with Saniah Tyler in the portal and Nikki Kerstein from prep.”
Reaction from Nyah Wilson entering the transfer portal.
- Over at Rock M+: Portal Target Profile on SIU’s Kennard Davis Jr. Plus, more basketball and football coverage.
New at RM+ | Interest in Kennard Davis Jr. picked up recently among high-majors, including #Mizzou, and it’s easy to see why. The sophomore showed potential as a jumbo creator down the stretch for SIU. I dove into his data and film to profile his game. https://t.co/UEwBUtO7ql pic.twitter.com/BoD1uE2r94
