The Morning Commute for March 31, 2025.
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about basketball transfers.
Let’s be honest: We should’ve seen where this was going. If you weren’t a fan of Duke, Auburn, Florida or Houston this year, you had to have known your chances of making it to San Antonio were slim. Those have been four of the clear cut best teams all year. And while they all had scares along the way, they’re all into the Final Four without breaking too much of a sweat.
So if you’re a fan of anyone else, what’s the thing on your mind right now? Transfers.
Listen, you’ve heard us plug Rock M+ a lot, and I get if you’re still on the fence. Let me tell you this, though: You’re not going to get better intel on Mizzou transfer business anywhere. On the internet. Period.
Take this conversation that took place on the Transfer Portal Thread yesterday:
Subscriber: Question to the Rock M brain trust (or those who have watched more college ball in general). What would your thoughts be of finishing the portal with [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted]? Especially given what’s in the portal now, and the overall cost of those who have entered.
Matt Watkins: I’d be ecstatic about the back court combo. Absent a shocking improvement, the front court additions cap the ceiling.
Preseason top 25. Not top 15.
Matt Harris: I’d feel like they compromised along the front line a little bit, particularly if [redacted] and [redacted] didn’t break the bank to bring in. You’re also Moneyballing the perimeter rotation by getting [redacted] and [redacted.]
And these aren’t names, er, redactions that we’re pulling from thin air. They’re vetted. And they’re being scouted, game film and all, over at Rock M+.
So if you were ever thinking of taking a chance with us, I’d do it now. You’ll be in the know before anyone else. Except for the Matts, of course.

- Updates are live on the Mizzou Hoops Transfer Tracker!
Anytime the portal wants to heat up with the kind of players Missouri needs it would be great. We got a little better when UCLA guard Sebastian Mack entered the portal and had reported contact from Missouri. There was also reported contact with Robert Morris transfer forward Amarion Dickerson.
I love the beginning of free agency portal season.
The Tigers will try to get their second SEC win of the season and avoid a sweep on Monday at 6pm CST on SEC Network. Then they’ll return home for a game against MO State at 5pm on Wednesday before welcoming in no. 1 Texas next weekend in Friday-Sunday series.
Folks: Diamond sports aren’t doing great. Speaking of…
… Mizzou has a very legitimate chance to be the first SEC team to win less than five games in conference matchups since Alabama in 1994. And if the unthinkable happens, the Tigers would be the first SEC team to go winless in conference play since Vanderbilt in 1962.
Haha! Awesome!
- In which Rory catches us up on the latest in Olympic Sports. A snippet from Men’s Golf:
The men’s and women’s teams were quite in sync this week….both teams finished in 5th place and had an individual nab SEC Freshman of the Week honors!
SEC Olympic Sports Fever… catch it!
