The Tigers are looking to bounce back after falling to a powerhouse Auburn squad.
First Half
- After some interesting channel situations with the Kentucky-Georgia game running for an eternity, Mizzou holds a 7-4 lead at the Under 16 Timeout.
- Mizzou has missed six straight shots from the field, being unable to capitalize on LSU’s shooting woes. As I type that, Trent Pierce knocks down a three and it unleashes a slew of good shots from the Tigers. 15-9 Mizzou at the Under-12.
- BANG! Second time is the charm for Warrick after a great sequence of rebounding from the Tigers creates an 8-0 run after the TV Timeout. 23-9 Mizzou with 10:25 left in the half.
- Mizzou is already in the bonus and they are up 25-15 at the under-8 timeout. The defense has been extremely sharp tonight with LSU working overtime for every basket.
- Tigers are just consistently winning every subsection of this game, allowing this lead to grow larger and larger. Grill just drained a DEEP three and LSU takes a timeout, it’s 34-17 Mizzou with 4:14 left in the first half.
- Starting against Auburn on the road might have been the best thing for this team, probably the worst possible matchup in the SEC this season which is saying a lot. Teams like LSU after playing Auburn must make the game a lot slower.
- Mizzou has forced 10 turnovers in this half, looking a lot more like the team that we are used to. The turnovers were mostly absent against Auburn, but this lead keeps getting larger. 40-21 Mizzou with 1:40 left.
- 42-27 Mizzou at halftime. Little late surge from LSU but Anthony Robinson II has 12 Points.
Second Half
- 55-36 Mizzou at the under-16 timeout. Mizzou is scoring at an incredibly efficient rate right now and in combination with their clamped defense LSU is getting nothing.
- LSU getting some momentum here, as it is down to a 17-point advantage for Mizzou. Gates takes a timeout to help this team regroup. 13:21 left in the game and it’s 57-40.
- Cam Carter leads LSU in scoring with 10 points but the 45.1% shooter is 3-11 from the field in this one. Jordan Sears is now at four fouls and it’s 61-40.
- 7-0 run for LSU in just over a minute, and this is suddenly getting into “this is a game” territory for Mizzou. They need to fight back here and curtail this run, 61-47 Mizzou with 9:40 left.
- 66-52 Mizzou at the under-eight timeout. Two free-throws are pending for LSU, Mizzou making sloppy mistakes on defense after a previously clean game.
- 10-10 from the free-throw line is Mizzou this half. LSU brings the lead back down to 13 but Caleb Grill is true from beyond the arc which prompts a burst from Mizzou to practically take LSU out of the game. 75-58 Mizzou with 4:24 left.
- It was 80-59 Mizzou late until they switched in some guys to rotate which prompted some garbage time points from LSU. 83-67 is the final score with Tamar Bates’ 20 points leading the game. First SEC win for Mizzou since March of 2023.
