No challenge is an easy one in this conference, as the 16-7 Oklahoma Sooners come to CoMo
Second Half
- Mizzou only has two points in this opening four minutes of the half here, and Oklahoma has started to get some life on offense with multiple possessions picking up three points. 46-30 Mizzou with 15:42 left in the game.
- Oklahoma’s field goal percentage is 25% in this game right now, and it’s a huge reason they are down by 16 at the moment. Mizzou’s offense has been held to somewhat subpar numbers shooting from beyond the arc, but their paint presence has made up for it. Tony Perkins is having one of his better offensive outputs of the season, as he has hit 10 points. Anthony Robinson with a nice floater, but Oklahoma picks up an and-one opportunity after the TV timeout, 56-40 Mizzou with 11:48 left.
- Beautiful play from Caleb Grill as he shoots out of a cannon down the court to feed Mitchell for his 21st point of the night, with the 22nd awaiting a free throw. Grill then hits a three on a beautiful rotational play with the final pass coming from Marcus Allen. He then hits another on the ensuing possession, as his hit check has all but confirmed this result. 67-42 Mizzou with 9:36 left in the game.
- Marcus Allen says absolutely not to the idea of another Grill heat check and gets an and-one with an aggressive drive to the hoop. Anthony Robinson follows up with one of his own, and he will have a chance to put the Tigers up 29. 72-44 Mizzou with 7:54 left.
- This game is just coasting along here, with multiple depth players getting minutes and plenty of people clearing seats at Mizzou Arena. 76-53 Mizzou with 3:51 left.
- The Tigers coast along for the final eight minutes of the game, and pick up a needed victory after a two-game skid. They will now go on to Athens to try and remain undefeated in this week’s slate. Annor Boateng with a nice lob to Aidan Shaw to end Mizzou’s account, the final score in this one is 82-58 Mizzou.
First Half
- Anthony Robinson with a strong drive to get Mizzou points on their first possession, and a slew of bad defensive rebounding possessions leads to the Sooners answering with a three. Mizzou is doing well to discombobulate Oklahoma’s passing, and lead 9-5 with 15:52 left in the first frame.
- Tamar Bates and Josh Gray get back-to-back dunks on rim shattering possessions, both setup by beautiful aerial passes from Caleb Grill. Jacob Crews takes a beautiful shot off the rush and buries it for three, giving the Tigers their largest lead of the night. 19-11 Mizzou with 11:41 left in the first half.
- Mizzou is just eating up Oklahoma in the paint as Mitchell and Robinson have combined for 15 of Mizzou’s first 23 points. 23-11 Mizzou with 9:21 left in the first half.
- Mark Mitchell is OU’s worst nightmare on the drive right now, as he has almost singlehandedly got Mizzou into the bonus with 7:35 remaining here, he has two shots after the under-8. 25-16 Mizzou
- Intense defensive basketball from both teams as Caleb Grill breaks the deadlock with a contested three, he is then called for his second foul after Forsythe hits a three to bring it back to a 10-point game. 31-21 Mizzou with 3:57 left in the half.
- Mitchell just posturized somebody on a beautiful drive, as he is just bullying anyone that is wearing red and in his way. Warrick joins the fun with a nice transition bucket as well, and this Tiger team is making quick work of the Sooners. Mitchell gets an and-one bucket and he is already at 16 points with a possibility of 17. And there it is, as he extends the lead to 18 picking up his 1,000th point in the process. Mitchell gets fouled with 2 seconds left as the Tigers attempted a home run ball play to get some points, and it has worked in their favor. It is now halftime, as the Tigers lead 44-24 as they finished beautifully.
