Live updates from the Battle Line Rivalry down south.
First Half
- Starters are the usual for Mizzou: Anthony Robinson II, Tony Perkins, Tamar Bates, Trent Pierce and Mark Mitchell. Arkansas will roll with D.J. Wagner, Adou Thiero, Johnell Davis, Karter Knox and Zvonimir Ivisic for the seventh straight game.
- Mitchell gets Ivisic on a pump fake and scores on Mizzou’s first offensive possession
- Caleb Grill and Marcus Allen have subbed into the game for Pierce and Robinson II with just over 17 minutes left in the first half
- Arkansas lead 9-4 at the under-16 timeout. The Tigers have fallen victim to active hands from the Hogs, as MU has three turnovers already. Mitchell just got double-teamed and stripped down low. Arkansas has looked extremely locked in defensively, a far cry from what it was to start its last contest against Mizzou.
- Mizzou is already up to five turnovers in less than five minutes. That last one by Marcus Allen was especially costly.
- Peyton Marshall and Jacob Crews have checked into the game with 15:12 left
- Crews knocks down a walk-up triple within just a few seconds of being on the court. Grill then gets fouled on a three-pointer. Sparkplugs!
- Mizzou is currently getting Mizzou’d by Arkansas. The Hogs are attacking the basket relentlessly and are coming up with big-time plays on defense. The Razorbacks lead 15-12 with just under seven minutes gone in the first half.
- Arkansas leads 19-18 with 11:54 left in the first half. Grill has converted consecutive triples, both of which were contested. The second three-pointer got a rise out of the Black & Gold faithful here at Bud Walton Arena.
- John Calipari calls timeout as Mizzou has gained a 30-25 advantage. The Tigers have saved themselves from peril on two straight possessions, with Tamar Bates and Tony Perkins salvaging points on what looked like surefire changes of possession. Perkins saved an errant pass behind his back right to Bates, who knocked down a three-pointer. On the ensuing possession, Marques Warrick was rejected by Ivisic at the rim, only for Perkins to corral the loose ball and convert a short jumper.
- Mizzou has officially registered another “Kill Shot”, as the Tigers are on a 10-0 run. They lead 32-25 with 5:51 left in the first half.
- I did not Warrick had poster potential. Now I know.
- Crews is on a little heater, sinking another three and then converting a layup through contact off-the-dribble. He has eight points, while Grill leads the team with 11. The Tigers lead 39-32 with 3:04 left in the first half.
- Marques Warrick buries a three-pointer at the buzzer, and Mizzou leads 48-41 at halftime. That was an electric half of hoops. Both teams combined to make each of their final nine field goal attempts. Grill has 13 points, while Crews and Warrick have 10 apiece. In a half where several starters failed to produce in the scoring department, the bench has once again given Mizzou a boost.
- Big-time steal by Robinson II, and a huge three-pointer by Grill on the press. Mizzou cuts the lead to 76-70.
- Peyton Marshall picks up his fourth foul. He’s played four minutes. Arkansas is in the bonus, and Ivisic knocks down a pair of free throws. 81-72 Razorbacks with 4:15 left.
Second Half
- Mizzou is clinging to a 54-53 lead with 15:33 left in the second half. The Tigers have already committed a pair of turnovers and have missed five of their last seven field goal attempts. Arkansas has found a lot of success getting downhill, especially with drawing fouls. Mizzou is up to 15 personal fouls.
- This pace has been BLISTERING
- Anthony Robinson II just took a page out of Josh Gray’s handbook and induced a lane violation. He converted the bonus free throw. Although Gray not be playing, the spirit of the horse will always be on the court. 58-55 Mizzou with 13:40 left in regulation.
- Mizzou leads 59-58 with 11:29 left in regulation. Arkansas has four turnovers in the last four minutes, bringing its total to 13 on the evening. However, the Tigers have scored just 11 points off of those TO’s, while UA has scored 21 off of 15 MU giveaways. Mizzou has also missed eight of its first 11 shots in the second half.
- Aidan Shaw. Head taps for everyone!
- Trent Pierce picks up his fourth foul with 9:36 left in regulation. He’s been incredible on the glass tonight for Mizzou, tying with Mitchell for the team lead in rebounds thus far (6). He’ll sub out for Mitchell as Arkansas takes a 64-61 lead.
- Arkansas leads 72-65 with seven minutes left in the second half. The Hogs are on a 12-4 run, as Mizzou is still struggling to take care of the basketball. They’re up to 16 turnovers, tied for their second-most of the season.
- The Razorbacks have looked far more athletic all game long. They’ve consistently gotten quality looks at the rim off of dribble-drives, and Mizzou hasn’t been able to do the same at the other end.
- Mizzou trails 81-75 with 3:31 left in regulation. Pierce just canned a three-pointer right after subbing in for Peyton Marshall, and Robinson followed up with a charge taken on the other end. Massive two-way sequence for the Tigers.
- A missed layup by Warrick turns into an alley-oop slam by Brazile at the other end. Arkansas leads 83-75 with 2:30 remaining.
- Mizzou won’t go away. Warrick has converted a couple of three-pointers, and the Tigers trail 89-84 with 37.9 seconds left.
- Caleb Grill … not his night. 2-of-12 from three. Missed what could’ve been a huge triple off of a steal by Robinson II.
- FINAL: Arkansas 92, Mizzou 85. The Razorbacks pick up a much-needed victory, while the Tigers see their momentum stopped in Fayetteville. MU committed 18 turnovers, its second-highest total of the season, and were minus-20 in attempted free throws. UA was also plus-16 in points off of turnovers and plus-18 in fastbreak points.
