A disappoint loss to Vanderbilt has Mizzou on the outside looking in for a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
It was a missed opportunity for the Missouri Tigers in the 97-93 overtime loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday. With the disappointing result, Mizzou no longer controls their own destiny to get a top four seed in the SEC Tournament — and perhaps the NCAA Tournament as well.
On paper, this will just go down as a Quad 1 loss on Missouri’s resume. This just goes to show that winning on the road is extremely difficult — especially in the best conference in college basketball.
Mizzou is currently 6-8 in Quad 1 games, 14th in the NET rankings, 12th on KenPom, and 8th on Bart Torvik. Though if Missouri doesn’t land a protected seed in the NCAA Tournament — they can look back at this Vanderbilt loss as the reason why.
There’s still an opportunity to finish strong here. Beat Oklahoma and Kentucky and go on a run in the SEC Tournament to get the best possible seed in the NCAA Tournament.
As of right now, Mizzou checks in as a No. 5 seed in this latest edition of Rock-M-Tology.
