Mizzou snaps four game losing streak with 69-59 win
Mizzou’s improved play finally led to another win, as the Tigers (13-13, 2-9 SEC) won their first SEC road game of the season against a depleted Texas A&M squad (10-13, 3-8 SEC) on Sunday evening. The Tigers’ 69-59 win came courtesy of Grace Slaughter’s game-high 29 points. She finished the game 9-17 from the field, 3-6 from three, and made 8-8 from the charity stripe.

It was a group effort in the first quarter, where six separate Tigers combined for 15 points. Mizzou trailed by one point after 10 minutes as Texas A&M’s Solé Williams led all scorers with six.
The two teams traded blows throughout the first half, leaving us tied at 31 going into the break. Texas A&M started to pull away with a 10-2 run to begin the second quarter, forcing a pair of Mizzou timeouts. The Tigers responded with a 9-0 run to tie things up at 26. Slaughter was the catalyst of the movement, scoring the first seven points of the run all by herself.
The Tigers outscored the Aggies 24-12 in the third quarter to snag a double-digit lead. Slaughter’s stat line ballooned with 14 points on 5-6 shooting and 2-3 from deep, outscoring the Aggies in the quarter all by her lonesome. This third quarter success comes in a complete role-reversal from the last two games, where Mizzou consistently fell behind due to runs by top 25 opponents in Tennessee and LSU.

In the final frame Mizzou did enough to stave off Texas A&M, as the Tigers emerged victorious 69-59.
Mizzou lit it up behind the arc with 10 threes. While the Tigers only shot at a 34.5% clip, the pure volume was just too much for the Aggies. Slaughter and Abbey Schreacke (10 points) both made three triples, while De’Myla Brown (12 points) and Ashton Judd (9 points) each made a pair. Brown finished as the only other Tiger in double-digits, joining Slaughter and Schreacke.
Judd helped the Tigers on the glass with 8 rebounds. The Tigers outrebounded the Aggies 38-35 in total and 22-12 on the offensive glass. Mizzou turned the extra shots into easy offense with 17 second-chance points.
Another way Mizzou found points in the win was off turnovers. The Tigers forced the Aggies into 19 turnovers, while limiting themselves to nine. Mizzou turned those takeaways into 21 points.
This marked the first time the Tigers had won an SEC road game since January 2024 in a win at Vanderbilt.
The Tigers hope to extend this newfound win streak by pulling off an upset against old Big 8 rival Oklahoma (17-6, 5-5 SEC) at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16.
