Down three with just three seconds remaining on the clock, the Missouri Tigers were forced to attempt a 56-yard field goal to tie the game in regulation.
Fortunately for Mizzou, second-year kicker Harrison Mevis has a big-time leg.
With the pressure of the game weighing on him, Mevis stepped up and drilled the deep field goal — tying Oklahoma’s Gabe Brkic and Louisiana State’s Cade York for the longest make of the 2021 season.
His season-long before this stellar kick was a 53-yarder.
Mevis went 2/2 on field goals and 4/4 on extra points for the day, extending his season record to 5/5 and 20/20. Last season, the talented young place kicker put up similarly impressive figures as he went 17/20 on field goals and 28/28 on extra points for the Tigers in 2020.
Unfortunately for Missouri, Mevis’ late-game heroics weren’t enough to claim their third win of the season.
With the Tigers’ defense unable to stop the Eagles’ offense throughout the game, Boston College scored yet another touchdown in overtime to seal the final score at 41-34.
With today’s crushing OT loss, Mizzou moves to 2-2.
Boston College now moves to 4-0 on the year.
